Description: Research indicates educators analyze data incorrectly 52%-89% of the time. A largely-overlooked culprit is how data is communicated to educators. The presenter conducted a quantitative study involving 211 California educators to explore improvements to how education data is reported and displayed for educators. Dr. Rankin summarized findings from her study and over 300 other sources as a set of education data reporting standards called Over-the-Counter Data Standards, inspired by the notion of improving labeling and supports for usage as over-the-counter products do. Educators’ data analyses were 205%-436% more accurate when any one standard was applied to the data reporting environment.
