Data Use Improves When Data Is “Over-the-Counter”
California Educational Research Association (CERA) Conference
2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. PT on December 4, 2014
Event Information: http://cera-web.org/
Description: Despite proactive steps educators already take to improve data use, research suggests many educators analyze data incorrectly. A largely-overlooked culprit is the manner in which education data is communicated. Data systems and reports educators use typically present data with little or no guidance in to how to properly interpret specific data. This session communicates the results of a quantitative study with findings educators’ data analysis accuracy dramatically increases when data is reported with “over-the-counter” supports to guide educators in the correct analysis of report contents. Attendees will learn how to add these supports to their own data systems and reports.
